Welcome to Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province on the ancient Silk Road. Upon arrival Lanzhou, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in the city. Enjoy your free time for the rest of today if you arrive early.
City tour in Lanzhou before moving to Zhangye in the afternoon by fast train. You will visit the Yellow River, Provincial Museum(Close on Mondays), Waterwheel Park, and Zhongshan Bridge.
Take a 4-hour bullet train to Zhengyi in the afternoon. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.
Visit the Dafoe Monastery after breakfast in the city, which is also the city museum to display the long history of Zhangye in ancient times. The huge sleeping Buddha is the highlight of the temple.
Then you will head to Matisi Monastery to visit the Tibetan Buddhism monastery.

Take 5-hour ride to Dunhuang in the morning, and view the stunning snow-capped Qilian Mountains, Gobi Desert and Oasis towns on the way. Then wander around the Singing Sand Dunes and Crescent Moon Spring in the afternoon. You have the opportunity to ride a camel at the sand dunes.

In the morning, you will visit Mogao Caves, the gem of the ancient Silk Road. The early history of Mogao can be tracked back to the 4th century and was built many times in history. The colourful fresco and statues in Mogao Caves display various stories about Buddhism.
After lunch, you will visit the new Dunhuang Museum (Close on Mondays) where you can see the exhibition and relics from the stone age to modern times, displaying the splendid history of the Dunhuang area.
